Privacy Policy
The short version: OnBoard AI is built to keep your data on your device. We do not operate servers that receive your content, we have no user accounts, and we do not collect analytics, usage data, or crash reports. Your conversations are processed entirely on your device by an on-device AI model — they are never sent to us, to any AI service, or to any data center.
What stays on your device
- Your conversations and prompts. The AI runs locally on your device. Conversation text is held in memory while you use the app and is cleared when you quit the app or tap Clear. It is never transmitted to us or to any AI provider.
- Your settings. Preferences such as theme and whether web search is enabled are stored locally in your device's standard app storage.
- The AI model files. After the one-time download described below, model files are cached locally on your device and used entirely offline.
The only times data leaves your device
OnBoard AI does not require a connection to answer you. There are exactly three situations in which the app contacts the internet, and in each case the data involved is used only to service your request in real time and is never sent to or stored by us:
- One-time model download. On first launch (or when you choose to install a model), the app downloads the AI model from the Hugging Face Hub (huggingface.co). Hugging Face receives the network request, including your IP address and a generic identifier for the download software, to deliver the file. After the model is downloaded, the app does not contact Hugging Face again. Hugging Face's handling of that request is governed by its own privacy policy.
- Web search — only when you ask. If you enable and use the search feature, your search query is sent to DuckDuckGo to return results. DuckDuckGo receives the query and the network request, and states that it does not track users; see DuckDuckGo's privacy policy.
- Wikipedia lookups — only when you ask. If you use the Wikipedia tool, your query is sent to Wikipedia (the Wikimedia Foundation) to return article content. Wikimedia receives the query and the network request; see the Wikimedia Foundation privacy policy.
These requests are initiated by you, used only to fulfill that specific request, and not retained by us. We never receive the contents of these requests. We are not affiliated with Hugging Face, DuckDuckGo, or the Wikimedia Foundation, and their handling of any request is governed by their own privacy policies.
What we do NOT do
- We do not collect personal information. There are no accounts and no sign-in.
- We do not use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs of any kind.
- We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or share data with data brokers.
- Your conversations are never used to train any AI model.
Children's privacy
OnBoard AI does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. Because the app collects no personal data, it does not create a profile of any user.
Your control and data deletion
Because your data stays on your device, you are in control of it. You can clear your current conversation at any time within the app, and you can remove all locally stored data (settings and cached model files) by deleting the app. We hold no data about you to delete, because we never receive any.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this policy and its effective date, and update the disclosures in the App Store and Google Play.
